Corporate Affairs Head Leslie Dach To Depart Walmart

Global, North America

Holmes Report 11 Mar 2013

WASHINGTON, DC--Walmart's top public relations executive is departing amid continued scrutiny of the retail giant's global reputation.

Reports last week revealed that Dach will bring his seven-year career with the company to a close at the end of June.

A former Clinton administration aide, Dach joined Walmart from Edelman in 2006. According to his Influence 100 profile, he is credited with improving constructive dialogue with Walmart's critics, thanks to a particular focus on sustainability and philanthropy.

However, Dach departs Walmart amid an international bribery investigation and continuing concerns about the retailer's global supply chain. He told the New York Times that the company's recent problems played no role in his decision to leave, instead pointing to its progress under his watch.

Dach's duties involved public policy, reputation management, corporate communications, philanthropy, government relations, and the company’s social responsibility and sustainability initiatives. He will continue consulting for Walmart.

Separately, the Holmes Report revealed last week that Walmart has reshaped its consumer PR roster, shifting the bulk of the lucrative US business to GolinHarris.
