YOKOHAMA--Nissan's Simon Sproule has been handed expanded duties leading marketing communications for the car maker's alliance with Renault.

Sproule, who is currently corporate VP of marketing communications for Nissan, is now charged with overseeing communications for the Renault-Nissan alliance and its CEO Carlos Ghosn.

His additional role as Renault-Nissan marketing communications director will also see him attempt to integrate the two disciplines across both brands.

Sproule previously worked as Renault-Nissan global communications director in 2009 in Paris, before relocating to Japan to lead Nissan's merged marketing and communications department in 2010. At Nissan, Sproule is credited with building a strong corporate content offering.

“The changes announced enable me to help drive the global communications agenda for the Renault-Nissan Alliance in addition to helping each individual company realize greater synergies across the entire marcoms discipline,” Sproule told the Holmes Report.

Sproule has been associated with Nissan since joining the company in 2003, broken only by a two-month stint as Microsoft’s global communications director.
