WASHINGTON, DC--Former Treasury official Michele Davis is departing Brunswick for Morgan Stanley's top global communications role.

The New York Times reports that Davis has been named global head of corporate affairs at Morgan Stanley, a role that has remained vacant since the departure of Jeanmarie McFadden earlier this year.

Davis served in a number of political roles prior to joining Brunswick in 2009. From 2006 to 2009, she served as assistant secretary for public affairs and director of policy planning at the Department of  Treasury, where she played a key role in the government's response to the financial crisis.

Prior to Treasury, Davis served as deputy assistant to the president and deputy national security advisor for communications at the White House. Before joining the White House, she was SVP for regulatory policy at Fannie Mae.

After departing government, Davis worked as a partner Brunswick. At Morgan Stanley, she will report to CEO Tom Nides, a political veteran who also spent a year heading Burson-Marsteller.
