SINGAPORE--Ross Gan has joined Singapore's state-owned investment firm Temasek, after departing his role as Huawei's global comms head last year.

Gan is named corporate affairs director at Temasek, reporting to corporate affairs MD Stephen Forshaw.

Forshaw told the Holmes Report that Gan's experience at Huawei, where he led the Chinese tech company's attempts to build a less controversial global brand, would be a "great asset" for Temasek.

"He is one of the three directors I have on the team and will be supporting our broadening communications programmes," said Forshaw. "His international experience and understanding of the global drivers in communications will be a great asset to our team."

The move marks a return to Singapore for Gan, after six years based in China with Huawei.

"I'm really excited about the new role which not only returns me to my Singaporean roots but is also a great opportunity to help shape the communications of the institution as it evolves beyond Asia," said Gan.

Prior to Huawei, Gan worked at the Hoffman Agency in Singapore.
