LONDON—Meigan Terry has ended her eight-year association with BlackBerry to join Virgin Atlantic as director of communications.

Terry takes on the role following the departure of the airline's previous director of communications, Greg Dawson, to Samsung one year ago.

Terry spent the past seven months at BlackBerry as VP of BBM Marketing. Before that, she spent almost eight years in a variety of roles, including VP of corporate communications for EMEA and Asia-Pacific at the troubled smartphone maker.

Terry's hire comes as Virgin Atlantic nears its 30th anniversary. Before joining BlackBerry in 2005, she spent several years at Hill+Knowlton.

"I am really looking forward to working with the team to create some innovative and exciting communication programmes that will drive positive brand affinity and support advocacy and engagement from our Virgin Atlantic customers,” said Terry.
