LOS ANGELES—Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo, two of the plaintiffs in the marriage equality Supreme Court case, Hollingsworth vs Perry, which led to the overturning of California’s gay marriage ban, have retained MWW as public relations agency of record. They will tap MWW’s LGBT practice to support the launch of their upcoming documentary, speaking engagements and for public relations and media strategy.

According to Katami and Zarrillo, “MWW’s expertise in the LGBT community is exactly what we need to engage, inform and educate the public as we work toward full equality for LGBT Americans.”

Stephen Macias, MWW’s senior vice president and LGBT practice lead, will head an account team that includes experts in reaching the LGBT community through traditional and social media relations.

The appointment comes on the heels of the MWW’s acquisition of LGBT specialist agency Macias Media Group, and adds to a practice that includes clients such as The Advocate, OUT, Gay.com, Here TV and Steven Petrow.
