JOHANNESBURG—FleishmanHillard South Africa has appointed Mimi Kalinda as Africa lead, responsible for managing the firm’s engagement with current African affiliates and developing partnerships in new markets.

Kalinda joins FleishmanHillard from Weber Shandwick, where she was responsible for leading pan-African development projects and social impact accounts including the Innovation Prize for Africa and the Michael & Susan Dell foundation.

Kalinda has also worked to raise the visibility of Samsung’s corporate social responsibility initiatives during the 2013 African Cup of Nations and led content creation for the African Union’s Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program framework and Nigeria’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Between 2003 and 2006 Kalinda was based in New York City as a content producer and filmmaker with director Spike Lee and was the first African woman to host a show on MTV in 2000, while she was based in London.
