NEW YORK—Omnicom's PR revenues grew 2.7% in the first half of 2014, spurred by a stronger showing in the second quarter of this year.

The group, whose PR holdings include FleishmanHillard, Ketchum and Porter-Novelli, today reported organic PR revenue growth of 4.1% in Q2, compared to 1.2% in Q1.

On a reported basis, PR growth was 6.2% for Q2, taking PR revenues to $357m for the quarter and $682.5m for the first half of this year.

The improved performance comes after several quarters of disappointing growth from Omnicom's PR division. Among the holding group's business units, only advertising performed better than PR during the first half of this year.

Yesterday, meanwhile, Omnicom's DAS division announced it had acquired a minority interest in Porter Novelli affiliate In Press, one of Brazil's largest PR firms.

Overall, Omnicom's revenue grew 6.4% on a reported basis during the second quarter of 2014 to $3.87bn.
