LONDON—Risk management and insurance giant Aon has named Andy Weitz as senior vice president of global marketing and communications. Weitz was most recently president and CEO of the US region for Hill + Knowlton Strategies, a role he departed in July.

In a newly created role, Weitz will lead Aon external corporate communications and oversee corporate citizenship. He will also be responsible for defining Aon's content marketing strategy and building an integrated approach to product marketing. Weitz will report to Phil Clement, Aon's global chief marketing and communications officer, and will serve as a member of the company's executive leadership team.

Aon's president and CEO Greg Case says, "Andy has long been a trusted business advisor and we are thrilled to have him join our team full-time. He is a skilled communicator who knows our industry and understands the role of strategic marketing and communications in achieving our business objectives.”

At Hill + Knowlton, Weitz served as US COO and vice-chair of the global corporate practice before becoming president and CEO of the US region. He provided strategic counsel to the company's largest clients, including leaders in the finance, technology and retail sectors and led the company's research into corporate character.

Prior to this, Weitz played multiple leadership roles in the risk management sector. First, he served as president of insuranceOrder.com an early innovator in online insurance that was acquired by Marsh, where he was a member of the strategic planning team and helped develop its approach to product development as national practice leader of the solution development group. Later, he ran commercial insurance operations at Trilogy Insurance Services, a technology company that provided predictive modeling services to leading agencies and carriers.
