WASHINGTON, D.C.— Widmeyer Communications has named public affairs expert David Poisson to lead one of the firm’s corporate, association, and public policy practices as senior vice president. Most recently, Poisson has maintained his own public affairs consultancy, Jenkins Hill Partners, advising clients on federal and state legislative matters.
During his time on Capitol Hill, Poisson served as legislative director and chief counsel to U.S. Senator Terry Sanford (D-NC) and also ran Sanford’s successful 1986 Senate campaign. He left Sanford’s office to become Chief of Staff to then-U.S. Representative Richard Durbin (D-Ill) and after leaving Capitol Hill, served for over a decade in various government relations, communications and leadership positions at several Washington trade associations, including the Electronic Industries Association, the Computer Leasing and Remarketing Association and the Tire Industry Association, where he was chief executive officer.
Poisson is also a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the thirty-second district in Eastern Loudon County.
