WASHINGTON, D.C.— Charles Young, former chief of staff for House Appropriations Committee member Steven Rothman (D-NJ), has joined international communications consultancy Brunswick Group as senior associate partner in its Washington office.

During his seven-year tenure on Capitol Hill, Young served as a senior advisor and manager for Congressman Rothman on all aspects of operation including legislative policy, media relations, constituent services, strategic planning, staff supervision and budget oversight. And in 2000, when Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ) faced an exceptionally difficult re-election challenge, then Minority Leader Richard Gephardt tapped Young to serve as Holt’s temporary chief of staff.

“Chuck brings to Brunswick an exceptional knowledge of how the media in Washington affects the political and regulatory process, which will be of enormous value to our corporate clients,” said David Shapiro, managing partner of Brunswick’s Washington Office.

Young began his career as a journalist, working in television, radio and print in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Kentucky. Prior to Congress, Mr. Young worked at Media Wise, a public relations firm he founded in 1996 to enable clients to establish an effective strategy for improving public images and interacting with the media.
