Golin Hires Jones to Lead Nintendo Account

GolinHarris has hired Stephen Jones, formerly head of the global technology practice at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, as executive vice president in the Los Angeles office and leader of the agency’s largest account, Nintendo.

CHICAGO—GolinHarris has hired Stephen Jones, formerly head of the global technology practice at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, as executive vice president in the Los Angeles office and leader of the agency’s largest account, Nintendo. He will oversee a team of nearly 30 staff members in the Los Angeles, Seattle and New York offices and will report to Judy Johnson, managing director of the Western region.

According to Johnson, Jones “has an extensive background in public relations and as a journalist in diverse industries, including entertainment, enterprise computing, consulting services and consumer electronics” in addition to “20 years of relevant experience and a keen focus on strategic planning and brand building.”

At Ogilvy, he was responsible for growing the agency’s technology portfolio as well as working with the firm’s client leaders on clients such as Sun Microsystems, DigitaLife, LEGATO and MailFrontier.  Prior to joining Ogilvy, he was a partner and associate director in the global technology practice at Ketchum and worked as a reporter and correspondent for publications such as Computerworld, San Jose Business Journal, Los Angeles Daily News and BusinessWeek.
