Corporate and financial corporate communications and public affairs
Founded in 1985 by Bo Jansson, Anders Kempe and Anders Lindberg—all still active in the firm’s management—JKL is focused on strategy communications, including corporate communications, financial communications, and public affairs. The firm eschews product publicity and event public relations, which it sees as increasingly commoditized, focusing instead on value-added assignments such as IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, corporate branding, recruitment strategies, organizational change, internal communications, corporate social responsibility, and corporate reputation management. Clients are drawn from a wide range of industries including banking, finance, telecommunications, energy, construction, transportation, media, manufacturing, IT, pharmaceuticals, venture capital, insurance and professional services.
JKL became part of the Publicis Groupe in 2002 and now serves as the Nordic partner for sister consultancies Publicis Consultants and Manning Selvage & Lee. It maintains offices in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland: about 20 clients are served in at least two markets, and it represents several outside the Nordic region. Revenues in 2003 were around €15 million, and the firm has around 105 employees. And it continually ranks among the top three in Swedish business magazine Resumé’s ranking of the region’s PR firms.
In addition to the three partners, senior talent includes Jon Åsberg, formerly editor in chief at the finance paper Finanstidningen and now head of the firm’s financial communications team, and Dan Ericsson, formerly general secretary and MP for the Christian Democratic Party. The newest addition is Pål Jebsen, who will join at the beginning of 2006 as a consultant and partner after serving as chairman of Burson-Marsteller in the Nordic region.
