Multi-specialist with automotive focus
The German automotive industry is renowned the world over, and Oliver Schrott Kommunikation is renowned within Germany primarily for its work in the automotive sector, where it uses an integrated approach—public relations, events, and design—to combine words (founder Oliver Schrott is a former automotive journalist, and six employees worked in the automotive press) and images (the Mercedes-Benz Maybach sedan dangling from a helicopter, for example) to impact consumers and other stakeholders.
Other recent automotive highlights include an international campaign (about half of OSK’s assignments involve an international component) to launch the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class; the organization of press conferences for Mercedes-Benz at international motor shows in Paris, Detroit, Geneva, New York, Shanghai, Frankfurt and Tokyo; a major management conference for Tetra Pak in Sweden; and the development on a new international business-to-business platform for Siemens Automation, scheduled for introduction later this year.
OSK does equally creative work outside the automotive niche, however, with particular emphasis on the transportation, technology, and service industries. So in addition to DaimlerChrysler and Michelin, the firm’s client list also includes ABB Asea Brown Boveri, Electrolux, Maringo Computers, and Siemens, for which OSK created an international business-to-business campaign built around an exhibition train that has run throughout Europe, and in China and the Americas.
With offices in Cologne and Stuttgart, the firm handles corporate and product communications, with a range of services that includes issues management, annual report and brochure production, corporate publishing, trade shows and exhibitions. With 65 people and fee income of €8.65 million in 2004, the firm is now ranked in the top five in Germany, according to PR Report, thanks to healthy 13 percent growth. New business came from German Wavelight (an international market leader in laser technology), Euromaster (one of the top tire retailer in Europe) and Mercedes-Benz Accessories (an automotive accessories provider).
