Big advertising agencies have given integrated marketing a bad name. All too often, when traditional ad agencies talked about integration, they meant adding PR and other disciplines on to the existing advertising strategy, rather than adopting a strictly media-neutral approach focused on finding the right solution for the client, regardless of discipline. The Titan Agency (formerly the Titan Network) is different because it launched back in 2001 with an integrated philosophy, because its principals included both advertising and public relations professionals (from Young & Rubicam and Cohn & Wolfe Atlanta), and because of a methodology it calls The Atlas Process, which begins with business diagnostics leading to brand positioning, and then develops strategic programming to support that positioning.

                Chief executive Tony DeMartino is a former head of Cohn & Wolfe’s Atlanta office who also spent time at Fleishman-Hillard, while president Michael Gavenchek was a senior VP with Cohn & Wolfe. New additions to the team in 2005 include ad agency veteran Steve Haber, who was hired from West Wayne to run the ad group and Felix Brambilla, another experienced ad industry exec, who is head of firm’s new Miami operation.

                Growth in 2005 was a very healthy 20 percent, and Titan is now one of the largest independent firms in the Atlanta market, with a client list that includes Rinnai Corporation, , Fris Vodka, Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Fox News Corp. and City Vision. For Rinnai, a leading gas appliance manufacturer, the firm retained former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to address California opinion leaders—including building industry executives and legislators—on the need to reduce our dependency on foreign energy sources. New to the client list in 2005 were AGCO and City Vision, large outdoor electronic advertising company based in Moscow and expanding globally.
