Founded in 2003 by Paula Carrera (a 10-year veteran of Burson-Marsteller and Llorente & Cuenca) and José Carlos Orgeand XurxoTorres (a former journalist and veteran of leading corporate consultancies Llorente and Citigate Sanchis), Torres y Carrera has quickly established itself as a leader among the new generation of Spanish public relations consultancies, in part because of its rapid growth (it now has fee income of around €1 million and about 20 people in offices in Madrid and Santiago de Compostela, the capital of the Galicia region) and its impressive track record of recognition from its peers. The firm earned an IPRA Golden World Award in its first year of operation, has received awards from Spanish public relations consultancy organization ADECEC and has been nominated for European SABRE Awards in each of the past two years. 

Torres y Carrera has averaged better than 50 percent growth each year since its launch, and 2007 was no exception. The firm now ranks among the top 25 public relations consultancies in
