Twister was formed in October of 2004 by the merger of D&C Financial Communications (the Italian subsidiary of Omnicom’s Doremus & Company financial consultancy) and Tandem, a corporate communication and marketing company. With its headquarters in Milan and an office in Rome, Twister is one of the top five Italian public relations companies, with a team of 40 professionals and fee income of €4.9 million—up by about 20 percent—in 2007, and is led by a team of six senior partners: chairman Fabio Raineri has an advertising background, while managing director Gabriele Lucentini is a former journalist with s strong track record in corporate communications and transactions. The other partners are two more former journalists, Arnaldo Ragozzino and Marino Varengo; CFO Mauro Ricci; and marketing expert Monica Maderna.
D&C is best known for its work in the corporate and financial communications arena, having won major Italian PR awards for its work in online financial communications for clients such as Benetton and Merloni Elletrodomstici, and supplementing its media and investor relations capabilities with a financial advertising unit and annual report production capabilities. The addition of Tandem brought expertise in marketing communications, most notably for luxury goods companies, and in the corporate social responsibility arena, and in January of this year the firm acquired 100 percent ownership of Perego & Solera, a Milan-based firm known for its expertise in the consumer space. The past 12 months also saw the launch of AccessIT, a strategic partnership with leading Italian public affairs firm Cattaneo Zanetto and the launch of Twister Black, a division focused on luxury goods.
