During a decade with Nike in China, Zhu has risen to a senior digital role, after starting her career at PR agecy Hill & Knowlton. Zhu's work at Nike initially involved communications strategy and corporate reputation work across such major events as the 2006 World Cup, 2007 Asia Games and the Beijing Olympics in 2008. In 2010, Zhu took on wider marketing duties for the Nike brand across East China, leading teams in such critical areas as category brand management, event, retail marketing, and grassroots outreach. The shift into digital-focused role is unsurprising, given both the nature of consumer engagement in China today, and Nike's unique status as a marketing pioneer.
