Technologist and entrepreneur Rotich has helped transform the way that technology democratizes particularly among emerging societies. As co-founder of Ushahidi, Rotich's helped build tools for improving interactivity, increasing transparency and lowering the barriers for individuals to share their stories. Through Crowdmap.com, Swiftly.org and accompanying mobile applications, Ushahidi also made crowdsourcing tools available, including BRCK — which Rotich helped to develop into a rugged self-powered, mobile wi-fi device which connects people and things to the internet in areas of the world with poor infrastructure. Rotich is now executive director at BRCK's non-profit affiliate, and also serves as an advisor to the councils of BASF, Risk Cooperative, and the Lemelson Foundation. In addition, she is a trustee of the iHub in Kenya and Bankinter Foundation for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Spain and is on the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board.
