Account/Associate Director - WE Communications

WE Communications, one of the world’s largest independent integrated communications agencies, is looking for an experienced Account Director to join our rapidly expanding London Healthcare Team.

Our UK office is one of 20 across the globe, and it’s expanding rapidly. Led by a new Head of Health, the healthcare practice is currently undergoing a revamp and the successful individual will be a key component of helping us create a market-defining offering which uses a progressive approach to healthcare communications to deliver impressive results for clients.

With an office in the heart of Covent Garden, we are keen to bolster our ranks with a senior hire to help expand our healthcare offering and support existing key client(s) including; Amgen, BenevolentAI, Elsevier, GN Hearing and Leo Pharma.  This is an investment hire, and at kick-off will be partnering with the Head of Health with a balance of existing client work and new business, helping with RFPs, pitches and marketing/lead generation.

With two strong Account Managers and Account Executive support, this role will enable you to play a leadership role.  Working alongside the Head of Health, an essential part of this role is creating a positive team dynamic, coaching team members to deliver excellence and instilling a sense of fun in our approach to work.

WE currently have strong healthcare offerings in Germany, USA, APAC and Australia, so as well as continuing to grow the UK practice, we are working with our global colleagues to create an industry leading multi-market proposition.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Working with the Head of Health to define the offer and make WE famous for health

  • Developing relationships with clients effectively by flexing style to become a trusted advisor

  • Adding value to client and supporting AM through ensuring work is aligned to brand strategy/problem solving/generating additional ideas

  • Identifying opportunities for organic growth

  • Line management

  • Creating opportunities for new business

  • Project management of new business pitches, with support of senior team member

  • Confident in advising team members and clients on PMCPA, EFPIA, and other CoP

  • Strong financial administration abilities, working with EMEA Finance Manager

  • Motivating team members both on client teams and the wider agency

Previous proven experience:

  • At least 8 years’ experience in healthcare communications, part of which will have been in an agency

  • A solid understanding of how best to optimise both traditional and digital communication in order to deliver excellent integrated strategies

  • Experience across healthcare communications with both consumer and HCP/payor audiences

  • New business development experience

  • Proven track record of delivering high-profile campaigns, both in the UK and across EMEA/globally
