Day One is looking for an Assistant Account Executive / Account Executive with thought leadership and corporate communications experience to join our Public Relations team. Our team is growing rapidly, so you should be comfortable (and flourish) in a deeply dynamic environment. 


We are looking for a team member with a solid foundation and proven track record of success in assisting the coordination of executive visibility/thought leadership opportunities and/or financial services and related industries. This person ideally has great follow up and closure, excellent writing skills, media pitching expertise, stellar people skills and strong account support experience. This hire will serve a vital role at Day One – whether you are uncovering the latest industry trends, analyzing data or organizing the perfect briefing book.

This position is full time and is only available in New York City.


Primary Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for this role will include serving as day-to-day account engine support. This hire will be instrumental in working with the team to support high-impact thought leadership and corporate communications strategies that build and strengthen the reputation of our clients.


  • Account Engine: Supports across accounts including creating and managing planning documents, to be shared with clients and updated on a regular basis, including activity and budget trackers. Coordinating internal and client meetings as well as general admin tasks
  • Strategy & Execution: Plugs into the development and execution of thought leadership plans and comms strategies. Identifies opportunities to keep an ongoing cadence of executive visibility and earned media opportunities — from preparing large- and smaller-scale speaking engagements to media interviews
  • Media Relations: Developing pitch plans and materials, briefing documents. Identifies appropriate media targets; Builds media relationships on behalf of the clients and agency
  • Social Strategy: Plugging into influencer relations and social strategies for brand executives and priority narratives
  • Writing Skills: Excellent writing skills. Able to write materials and hone an executive’s voice and points of view as well as analyze information and data points, translating existing materials and assets into external communications narratives
  • Research: Maintains finger on the pulse of news, influencer and social media trends. Able to create trendspotting reports, media audits, research reports and more
  • Measurement: Monitoring and reporting project management lead, effectively analyzing and measuring campaigns, utilizing the right tools and services to measure and distill insights
  • Organizational, Tactical, and Communication Skills: Solutions oriented and understands how to best prioritize tasks or assignments; Demonstrates a high level of organizational skills; Meets deadlines; Sees projects through to completion; Great attention to detail
  • Client Relations: Serves as a day-to-day client contact
  • Team: Peer resource to assistant account executives, PR coordinators, apprentices and interns
  • Bridging Across the Agency: Works with peers to further the mission, goals and culture of the agency


Required Experience and Skills:

  • Media outreach experience
  • Expertise in written/verbal communications internally and externally 
  • Ability to work/thrive in fast-paced environment while paying close attention to every detail, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness
  • Self-motivated, proactive and deadline-oriented 
  • Client communications experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations or Marketing preferred
  • 2-3 years of relevant PR/thought leadership and/or corporate communications experience; agency/client experience is a plus


Major Bonus If You

  • Have experience with sponsored content and/or influencer marketing
  • Have experience managing social media presences for corporate executives — with an emphasis on LinkedIn
