Who we’re looking for:

  • The New York team at Olson Engage is looking for an Account Supervisor to be in charge of managing day-to-day activities on 2 priority NY accounts. The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • 6-8 years of communications experience within Consumer or B-to-C services, with specialized experience in working on big brands and industry experience with CPG and lifestyle or entertainment brands
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • A creative and strategic thinker for brands that want to push the envelope
  • Ability to think holistically and work with Client’s other agency partners
  • Experience in event planning and execution
  • Experience in celebrity talent programs
  • Team player with a no-nonsense attitude
  • Understanding of new and emerging media
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial, self-starter environment
  • Ability to independently and aggressively lead accounts and client contact
  • Agency experience is required


What you’ll get to do:

  • Strategic sounding board and “go-to” person for the client on a day-to-day basis
  • Expert on the account, its industry, its business strategy, goals, position, and communication objectives, and generates new ideas on a proactive as well as an as-needed basis
  • Work with the VP on all strategy, planning, senior level relationships, proactive thinking and client growth
  • Spend significant time with clients in order to establish and nurture strong peer relationships
  • Create and review budgets, projections, profitability and status reports for accuracy – able to use these tools to lead all day-to-day account activities
  • Lead the development of all client scopes of work, proposals and estimates, and ensures Client understanding and approvals prior to work commencing
  • Handle billing, PO and other financial management needs
  • Help identify and pursue organic new business opportunities with the guidance of the Account Director
  • Occasionally contribute to new business efforts when called upon
  • Provide day-to-day supervision for direct reports, including workload management and skills development, monitoring the quality of creativity, execution and client service
  • Mentor junior-level staff and assist VP with development plans and the performance management process
  • Keep VP current and taps into his/her skills as needed

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in public relations, communications or other closely related field, with a minimum of 4 years at an agency
  • Four-year college degree in a relevant field of study
  • Significant media relations experience and knowledge of how to manage a client’s reputation in the media
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to confidently persuade, present and champion ideas
  • Ability to anticipate problems and challenges and develop solutions
  • Must excel under tight timelines and multiple assignments
  • Must welcome risk-taking and change as necessary to drive business forward
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and execute a project from A to Z
  • Experience in leading and managing subordinates to maximize their potential and professional growth
  • Ability to build and manage staffing models for clients and projects that will deliver the promised work to the client in the most efficient and cost-effective way
  • Ability to build project and retainer budgets based on staffing models that realistically reflect the human resources necessary to deliver the promised work to the client and a reasonable return to the agency
  • Ability to manage staff and other resources against established budgets
