Ruder Finn's Global Healthcare Practice drives understanding and demand among consumers, patients, healthcare professionals and decision-makers, for products, services and technological advances that lead to longer, healthier lives. Our expertise serves pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, public health, and consumer health. Our New York office has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting Account Supervisor (AS) who has a true passion for global healthcare communications. The AS should be prepared to work in an all aspects of healthcare, from promoting consumer-friendly disease awareness campaigns to high-science clinical data and regulatory milestones. This individual must possess strong writing skills and ideally, strong ability to manage relationships with clients, have experience translating complex scientific issues into consumer-friendly messages and materials.



  • Provide strategic counsel that reflects deep knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical product communication and issues management
  • Support the development of client proposals and media materials: plans, presentations, reports, communications documents
  • Act as a true strategic partner in building disease awareness and relationships with clients
  • Develop recommendations and programs that demonstrate a broad knowledge of media and advocacy arenas
  • Oversee operational performance of the assigned account, ensuring quality work, deadline and budget adherence
  • Build relationships with third-party influencers, internal business partners, external partner agencies and vendors to meet client needs
  • Demonstrate tactical proficiency in media relations, including creating and driving both traditional and social media outreach plans
  • Supervise junior staff by motivating, coaching and consistently providing feedback
  • Contribute to business growth through introducing clients to new capabilities, building a network of industry contacts and participating in relevant professional organizations
  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement of leadership skills; set and pursue stretch goals



  • 6+ years of public relations experience, with an emphasis on healthcare communications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field
  • A personal passion to work across all verticals in the healthcare space
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful communications programs for healthcare brands
  • Strong writing and organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to contribute to strategic thinking and the development and execution of programs
  • Experience managing a team that executes healthcare communications programs
  • Experience working with diabetes and/or oncology is a plus
