W2O Analytics is the W2O Group’s dedicated, 90-person global team of data analytics, insights and research professionals. We partner with our colleagues across the W2O Group and its suite of companies (WCG, Twist and Pure) to develop and deliver project-based and ongoing programs of analytics and research that deliver on our clients' goals and objectives. 

We are looking for a Digital Analytics & Research Director based in San Francisco with both agency and client-side experience in the Technology or Consumer Health verticals, interested in working with clients in Brand Marketing, PR/Communications, or Digital Centers of Excellence positions to inform their business marketing decisions. This is a client-facing role requiring the ability to manage a team of analysts efficiently, problem solve with clients effectively, and present professionally on several concurrent projects. A strong candidate will have experience working as a marketing professional that regularly leverages a variety of data (social, primary research, search, web, mobile and internal databases/CRM) to make informed decisions, measure success and understand the state of the industry.

Technically, this individual will demonstrate expertise in data synthesis and interpretation, and will be skilled in delivering - and coaching others to deliver - business-relevant, insights-led research and reporting with a clear storyline. S/he will be an expert in at least two of the following:

  • social and traditional media analysis
  • market research (primary and secondary)
  • statistics / advanced data modelling
  • search / SEO and web analytics
  • panel-based / audience research

S/he will exhibit a natural curiosity and drive to succeed and will thrive working in a fast-paced, fluid agency environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a representational leader with clients and work with them to develop appropriate scopes of work, and to oversee seamless delivery to budget, time and expectations
  • Develop, manage and execute analytics projects as derived from client business questions, inclusive of research design, technical implementation, and final delivery consistent with W2O Group and client standards
  • Work within the wider W2O Analytics team to further develop capabilities and efficiencies
  • Assist in the new business process – inclusive of thought leadership, and identifying & developing opportunities with current and potential clients
  • Coach and manage more junior staff; oversee contractors and vendors as required
  • Work closely with key operations stakeholders to bring efficiencies to analytics business and project workflow
  • Guide in the creation of effective data visualizations (e.g. PowerPoint and chart templates, interactive charts, info graphics, etc.)
  • Stay informed on the marketing and communications analytics industry, including new technologies, methodologies, and key players
  • Stay informed about client industries, including their technologies, products, target markets and competitors

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional understanding of the role of analytics and research in Consumer Health, Technology, Consumer / Global Brands
  • Degree-level qualification. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional experience working with research and data - in fields such as market research, statistical analysis, consumer insights, management consulting, communications, marketing and advertising industries, or other relevant area, as defined
  • Advanced competence with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong working knowledge of at least five of these (or equivalent) research tools: Radian6, Alterian SM2, Sysomos, Brandtology, Google Analytics, Omniture SiteCatalyst, Webtrends, CoreMetrics, Google Adwords, Compete.com, comScore, Google SBKT, Google IFS, comScore, Hitwise, Alexa, QuantCast, SERMO, Google Webmaster Tools, Majestic SEO, DART, Atlas, Dow Jones' Factiva, Meltwater News, Lexis Nexis, Mintel, Simmons, YouTube Insights, Facebook Insights, SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, NodeXL, Protovis

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to use SPSS, SAS, R, NodeXL to uncover patterns in datasets
  • Client-facing, professional demeanor
  • Advanced degree preferred
