Assistant Account Executive - Weber Shandwick

Consumer PR

Assistant Account Executives support multiple accounts on the Consumer team.  They understand and learn the business of the agency, accounts of the agency, and the marketplace it sells to is expected.  Assistant Account Executives perform fundamental PR tasks such as monitoring quality and aiding in production of media related materials, managing client publications and resources materials.  This position is focused on developing the necessary skill set to become a successful PR practitioner.


§  Manage client supplies, publications and resources materials

§  Work with client on tactical issues

§  Participate in client meetings and presentations (as needed)

§  Prepare client-meeting reports


§  Draft media relations materials 

§  Demonstrate knowledge of and familiarity with media pitching and tour scheduling

§  Understand clients’ top-tier media and be able to identify trade and business editors and analysts

§  Monitor media outlets for coverage of client news and competitor developments

§  Conduct media outreach and follow-up

§  Manage external vendors 

§  Research speakers bureau


§  Draft pitch letters, abstracts, profiles, press kit materials and releases

§  Proof and edit client related documents as needed

§  Compose basic media plans and contribute to plan development processes (as needed)

Team Participation

§  Actively participate in agency development and assist with new business

§  Balance workload between accounts and account staff to ensure that all work is accurate and completed within established deadlines

§  Continually communicate with manager

§  Attend agency staff meetings and group meetings

Administrative Support

§  Manage monthly client billing process

§  Track/enter time with precision and on a day-to-day basis

§  Cross-reference, approve, and forward invoices to the Accounting Department

§  Assist in monthly report preparation

§  Perform other administrative tasks as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • You must be a college graduate
  • Internship and/or prior work experience in public relations, preferably in an agency setting. 
  • Available to work a full-time schedule

  • Can prioritize multiple tasks and manage time in a consistent manner
  • Professional demeanor
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Resourceful and effective problem solver
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
