We are recruiting a Director to join our growing Food, Drinks and Consumer practice supporting the practice’s senior leadership. 

We are seeking a self-starting, strategic and critical thinker with analytical skills and a demonstrated history of superior client service, great case studies and creativity. We are seeking a professional with a minimum of five years of experience working on large and small consumer, food and drinks accounts, with a great track record in managing events, initiating creative programming ideas, overseeing management of digital communities and creation of memorable social content, and generating ongoing media and blogger coverage. This person should have demonstrated skills in managing multiple projects, product launches and new brand extensions. Strong media relations skills and attention to detail are critical. 

The Director will be an exceptional individual with strong emotional intelligence as well as proven experience in team management, strategic analysis, and execution. The right candidate will be entrepreneurial, solution-oriented, undaunted by challenges, creative in solving problems, possess a winning mindset, and have exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate will also have worked in an agency or consultancy setting and understands the need for excellence in client service and operational efficiency while also fostering a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The Director will share responsibility for the day-to-day activities and projects, working closely with clients and client service team members at all levels. 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with clients and external audiences. 

  • Supervise day-to-day client projects and events to ensure the quality of work meets clients’ needs and objectives. 

  • Oversee all aspects of major events for clients. 

  • Supervise junior staff, including associates and senior associates. 

  • Create and review media materials. 

  • Develop and place appropriate stories by and about the client with consumer and business media and bloggers as needed. 

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with relevant press in national print business, national and local broadcast and trade media  

  • Develop and cultivate relationship with relevant bloggers and influencers 

  • Provide guidance and recommendations for social media strategies and tactics. 

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication between the client and RF|Binder. 

  • Provide strategic insights and suggestions to senior colleagues and team members. 

  • Work with senior management to develop and write strategy and communications plans for clients. 

  • Identify opportunities for additional assignments for existing clients, and work to create materials and proposals for new projects. 

  • Develop budgeting skills through organization of sub-projects on the account. 

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Well-versed in regional, trade and national food and beverage media along with current industry trends. 

  • Strong oral, editing and written communication and presentation skills. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to think creatively and suggest ideas for programming and content. 

  • Successful track record in media relations – developing media strategies, pitching the media, directing a team’s pitching efforts, with a focus on broadcast media relations 

  • Ability to plan strategically. 

  • Ability to budget programs and understand the financial aspects of the client relationship. 

  • Implementation of campaign and product launches 

  • Direct and recent experience developing integrated communications plans 

  • Understanding of key data analytics for measuring effectiveness of media and digital initiatives. 

  • Proficient in computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)
