The Weber Shandwick Seattle office is currently seeking a strategic Group Manager or Account Director to manage teams and clients across key technology accounts. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six years of relevant communications experience in the technology and/or healthcare/health tech space, and will lead integrated communications work for clients. This role provides the opportunity for daily client interaction and counsel, junior team management, and a high degree of autonomy to implement strategies within a very short timeframe. The ideal candidate should also: have strong B2B technology media relations experience; be an efficient and detail-oriented project manager with experience managing budgets and teams of varying sizes; be skilled at developing trusted relationships with and making strategic recommendations to clients; and have experience proactively identifying new client opportunities, managing client expectations and effectively delegating projects.


  • Drive day-to-day client relations and serve as a primary client counselor
  • Quickly develop rapport with client executives and establish credibility
  • Serve as the day-to-day client contact; take a leadership role in executing deliverables of a long-term communications plans
  • Solid B2B and technology media relations experience and a strong grasp of the technology media landscape
  • Message development across several different audiences
  • Assist in leading flawless execution of integrated content and editorial strategies across multiple owned and social media brand properties
  • Support all phases of the process: planning, production, distribution, optimization, and measurement analysis
  • Cross-company integration on campaigns and news announcements
  • Provide insight on emerging trends and online media developments as they affect public relations and marketing.
  • Develop strategies to harness advocates online, whether those are industry influencers, consumers or other constituencies.
  • Project management including, but not limited to, campaign execution, budgeting and team bandwidth
  • Manage/mentor/oversee the work of junior team members and coordinate with global teams
  • Proactive about developing ideas for media outreach and pitch efforts
  • Become an expert on our clients’ brands and goals, and develop creative solutions that boost the brands’ reputations.
  • Take broad concepts and strategy and translate them into meaningful, actionable operating plans for account teams.
  • Content development (press materials, FAQs, bylined articles, social content and blogs, etc.)

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, international relations, or a related field)
  • A minimum of 6+ years of communications experience (previous PR/marketing agency experience preferred)
  • Experience working on B2B, consumer technology, and/or healthcare/health tech accounts
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills; verbal and written
  • Strong writing, project management and organizational skills; and ability to multi-task to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality
  • Current knowledge of social media, technology, interactive research and emerging standards related to digital media and content
  • Ability to provide client counsel as well as help educate internal teams on emerging digital and social trends
  • Knowledge of analytics platforms and the ability to tell stories with data
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate work across strategy, creative and production teams
