Senior Account Executive — Zeno Group

We are seeking an experienced Senior Account Executive to support Consumer clients.  You will collaborate within the team, provide sound counsel and recommendations to clients, and drive results inclusive of traditional and emerging public relations tactics. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of your accounts – their business, products, markets, and industry influencers; and will convey this knowledge credibly to members of your account team and to the media, driving media relations results. You’ll also be expected to mentor junior level team members assigned to your accounts.

Specific duties/requirements include:

  • Extensive media relations experience across multiple consumer industries (F&B, travel, lifestyle, tech, etc.)
  • Maintaining strong relationships with national top tier and local media
  • Crafting thoughtful pitches and compelling stories
  • Outlining comprehensive media strategies for clients that will provide winning results
  • Staying on top of the media landscape (what’s being covered in the news, who is covering it, etc.)
  • Being a resource for the agency in terms of a media expert POV
  • Counseling junior staff to effectively work with media
  • Building and maintaining current media lists (familiarity with Cision, MuckRack is a must)
  • Securing top media coverage for accounts across the consumer division (and possibly for other client divisions) 
  • Having prior experience in managing and maintaining media trackers
  • Having excellent communications skills, writing, pitching, creative thinking and organizational skills
  • Building strong relationships with client and vendor contacts & proactively manage correspondence
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously, completing them on time and on budget
  • Developing and managing media relations programs including maintaining relationships with key travel & tourism contacts:
  • Prior account experience with travel clients is required (e.g. hotels, destinations, airlines, tourism boards, etc) - this includes coordinating press trips, managing clients requests with travel vendors, etc.
  • Having a strong understanding of the US travel media landscape (Canada is a plus) and solid media relationships with travel and consumer lifestyle reporters is required
  • Planning and implementing press conferences, seminars, speakers’ bureau, and other special events including press trips and media stays
  • Researching, interviewing, writing and editing news releases as well as media materials such as fact sheets, key messages and others as needed
  • Practicing effective project management while working with other team members and understanding the “big picture” of the client program
  • Coaching junior employees and demonstrate ability to supervise & delegate tasks appropriately
  • Assisting with new business as necessary

About You

You have an understanding of traditional and non-traditional PR tactics and the converged media landscape. You are resourceful and tenacious when it comes to delivering results for clients and your team. Building strong relationships is in your DNA and you are a true partner to both clients and your team.

  • You have earned a Bachelor’s degree
  • PR is your passion, and you have 3-5 years of experience; agency experience preferred
  • People recognize your excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • You have earned media placements by crafting newsworthy pitches, releases, contributed articles in the travel space and landed travel clients in consumer lifestyle outlets outside of the travel beat
  • You have coordinated or help coordinate a press trips with 3-4+ reporters
  • A “Can do” attitude and a collaborative spirit is what you’re all about
  • You have organizational skills that keep everything humming along
  • You’re collaborative in spirit, and results driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • The ability to think strategically, creatively and holistically about client programs is something that inspires you
  • You have the courage to be fearless in presenting a point of view in brainstorms
