Ruder Finn has an immediate opening in New York for a talented human resource professional to join our team. The position will touch all facets of human resources including talent and development/training, employee relations/coaching, process and procedure development, employment law and compliance, recruitment and retention, compensation, benefits, and insurance management, employee engagement, etc. This individual must be able to proactively multi-task and thrive in an ever-changing fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.


  • Administer and collaborate with HR Director on core human resource processes including payroll and data entry, employee relations, onboarding, training, benefits, and performance management
  • Support additional reactive and proactive projects, as requested
  • Liaise with operations to coordinate new hires and terminations. Schedule and present new hire orientation and prepare new hire materials
  • Assist in the development and roll out of internal programs, best practices, and process improvements. Support internal strategy-building, implementation, and follow-up processes
  • Perform other general administrative functions such as scheduling and developing training courses, completing employment verification requests, as well as special tasks and projects
  • Assist with benefits administration support; open enrollment, office communication, etc.
  • Compile reports such as headcount, turnover and miscellaneous reports as needed. Liaise with finance on specific reporting metrics (paid time off, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with internal and external stakeholders. Diplomatically navigate and leverage resources and stakeholders to provide mutually-beneficial solutions to problems, conflicts and/or employee relations issues
  • Understand and display advanced judgment regarding the full scope of work, applicable laws and policies, internal and external culture and the firm’s vision, mission, and values
  • Manage and oversee the internship and executive training program, network and build relationships with key universities to ensure strong talent pipeline, schedule and attend all trainings
  • Exhibit exceptional project, time and people management skills
  • Serve as a strategic partner to employees, managers, hiring managers and/or candidates to help resolve issues, make informed decisions, navigate workplace dynamics and drive career growth
  • Demonstrate HR expertise through thoughtful decision-making, appropriately maintaining confidentiality
  • Communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders to build consensus and produce mutually-beneficial outcomes
  • Support and/or participate in the interview, recruiting and onboarding processes to ensure candidates and employees are effectively integrated and engaged
  • Coach employees to identify development opportunities for themselves and their staff; contribute to employee performance and behavior improvement through feedback and training
  • Evaluate, inform, coach and motivate employees, managers and hiring managers
  • Counsel employees and/or candidates on effective solutions to problems


  • Minimum 6-year proven track record in Human Resources, preferably within a communications or public relations/agency environment
  • BA/BS degree, HR Management Certification/PHR/SPHR preferred
  • Experience in administering human resources policies, programs, and practices, including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and coordinating. Strong working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including and written and verbal ability. Includes the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple deadlines in a very fast paced environment and develop/deliver effective presentations
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with strong problem-solving skills, strong initiative, excellent judgment, and ability to effectively problem solve
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with individuals at different levels and in various practice groups
  • Discretion, understanding the sensitive nature of confidential employee information
