We are SHIFT Communications and we are looking for an ambitious Senior Manager to help lead an established account team as we continue to grow our San Francisco office.
 
Managers at SHIFT lead account teams in the execution of client programs; interact daily with clients to provide strategic counsel on programs, the industry and competitive landscape; manage the professional development and growth of their team; take an active role in securing and closing new business; and, help grow the presence of SHIFT through a commitment to networking.
 
Specific responsibilities include:
 
Client Service
Senior managers are ultimately responsible for client retention, ensuring that the team is effectively executing client programs, meeting established goals and metrics, and demonstrating a track record of delivering high quality client service. Managers are expected to establish strong relationships with their clients through consistent conversations and in person meetings, offering strategic counsel on matters related to the client, products, industry and competitive landscape. They are also responsible for troubleshooting issues and challenges, elevating issues to their Vice President as it relates to team performance, client happiness, and overall program success and execution.
 
Team Management
You will oversee the growth and professional development of the team, including drafting and delivering performance reviews, conducting quarterly meetings to assess progress, and elevating performance issues to Vice President as needed. You will also serve as a mentor and resource to junior staff, providing leadership and direction as it relates to client service, new business development, industry networking, staff training and development, and quality control. You are effective at managing reports including team hours forecasts, over/under tracking and new business projections to support team profitability; and with Vice President, actively participate in team planning discussions including team structure projections, hiring needs and overall growth plans.
 
Writing
You set the framework for PR strategy plans, presentations and proposals, ensuring the documents reflect clients’ needs and business goals. You will author strategic press releases, and serve as senior level resource to clients on message development for all significant announcements; as well as working to cultivate the writing skills of junior members of the team by providing consistent counsel and training opportunities to help team develop exemplary writing skills.
 
Media Relations
You're a media hound who knows how to get and measure PR results. You'll drive the media relations program by ensuring established account strategy translates into editorial results.
 
Social Media
You have the ability to review and analyze data across owned, earned and social channels to make recommendations to a client. You know how to evaluate social media performance for a brand, and regularly read relevant industry blogs and media about digital marketing and its evolution. You're a pro at executing social media tactics including, but not limited to, monitoring social media channels and the blogosphere for commenting opportunities, and writing original and creative tweets and blog posts as needed. You've played a key role in executing a Digital-first campaign for clients and understand the core tactics for building and communicating success around building an audience for client owned media properties. You've counseled clients on the appropriate application of social media tools and strategies on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram (as appropriate) and possess an understanding of broader digital marketing disciplines such as content marketing and SEO.
 
Marketing
You have experience creating, initiating and or participating in award-worthy integrated creative campaigns for clients. You know how to effectively present the value of public relations over and above “column inches” in the context of the broader marketing context. You understand the distinct role of public relations across the broader owned, earned, social, search and paid media landscapes.
