NEW YORK — Drew O’Brien, a former  senior adviser to John Kerry, has joined Burson-Marsteller as a managing director, and the agency’s global client lead for Bank of America. O’Brien will also lead the firm’s business in Boston and throughout New England. He joins Burson-Marsteller from Weber Shandwick where he was an executive VP in the firm’s corporate practice.

SAN FRANCISCO — Hotwire has promoted Suzanne Chan to head of North American strategy from her previous role as head of adtech and digital marketing. In her new role, Chan is responsible for building Hotwire’s capabilities and leading strategy for high-stakes clients as well as select new ones. Chan joined Eastwick, which was bought by Hotwire in 2016, in 2010, and was responsible for opening the agency’s New York office.

WASHINGTON — Brittney Manchester, most recently a senior advisor at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, has joined APCO Worldwide’s Washington health care practice as a senior associate director. While at CMS, Manchester worked for the director of communications, leading the earned media outreach during open enrollment for the 2017 marketplace health insurance. She also provided strategic messaging guidance and handled media relations on key Medicare issues with national reporters.

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA — Dessler Media, a financial PR firm, has named Kevin McDaniel senior VP of public relations. In his new position, McDaniel will focus on spearheading the redevelopment of Dessler Media's specialized services aimed towards medical professionals and oversee the launch of the Dessler PPO Plan. McDaniel comes to Dessler's Los Angeles office after a stint in Texas, where he was responsible for a 300% growth in Dessler's petroleum customers in just under two years, the agency said.

NEW ORLEANS — The agency Deveney has grown its team by three — digital supervisor Andy Kutcher; digital associate account executive Olivia Parker; and advertising supervisor Anne Miller. Kutcher joins from NOLA Distilling Company. Parker comes from Pheast Food Group. Miller has worked with clients across industries during her 20-year marketing career.
