NEW YORK—RLM Finsbury has hired award-winning ABC News correspondent Ned Potter (pictured) as a senior vice president in its New York office. Potter, who covered science, technology and the environment for ABC News for more than two decades, will be a part of the firm’s science and technology practice. Potter served as a science correspondent since 1987 for ABC’s World News, and also reported for Nightline, Good Morning America, and the Discovery Channel’s Discovery News. Before he joined ABC News, Potter was a correspondent at CBS News, where his assignments included science, technology, labor and national politics.

DENVER—Barnhart, an integrated communications firm, has appointed Christin Crampton Day as senior director of public relations, responding for leading the agency’s PR and social media business unit. Most recently, Crampton Day was executive director of Ballet Nouveau Colorado, a non-profit organization. Previously, she formed Center Stage, a PR consulting firm, and prior to that worked at the Schenkein agency for 14 years, 11 of them as an owner.

CHICAGO—Gibbs & Soell has appointed Michael Samec as director of digital strategy. Based in Chicago, Samec’s responsibilities in the newly created role include developing strategic programs that will help the agency and its clients drive increased business from more effective applications of electronic, social and mobile media communications. He was most recently director of marketing strategy for RKON Technologies and held earlier senior positions with Arc Worldwide, a marketing agency that is a subsidiary of Leo Burnett Company; The Lead Frog; and Legal Helpers.

TORONTO—Hill+Knowlton Strategies Canada has hired Leslie McGill as senior vice president and promoted Francine Beck to senior vice president. The two will share leadership of the company's health practice. Beck is a former journalist and a veteran media relations strategist with expertise in stakeholder engagement, social marketing campaigns and healthcare professional communications. McGill joins H+K from the Ontario Pharmacists' Association where, as vice president of strategic development, she integrated the communications, partnerships and membership functions.
