NEW YORK — Alan Sexton has left his job as a Burson-Marsteller US VP to head Prudential Financial’s global communications strategy.

Sexton, who announced his move in a Linkedin post Wednesday, said in his new VP role he will be working with the company’s global marketing and communications team headed by Colin McConnell and Lauren Day.

Sexton’s move to an in-house gig is the latest step in a 20-year career in communications. Most recently chair of Burson’s corporate and financial practice, and New York market leader, Sexton joined the agency in 2013 as an MD.

Before that he held a range of positions at Global Strategy Group, Ogilvy and Harbour Group among others.
