WASHINGTON, DC—APCO Worldwide has launched a health advisory board, a new specialty group of the firm's international advisory council that will assist APCO's healthcare team in counseling businesses, governments and nonprofit organizations on health care issues and industry trends including market access and prevention and wellness.

The heath advisory board comprises former chief medical officers, public health leaders, heads of communication of large pharmaceutical and insurance companies, and former health policy officials.

Members include: Sir Liam Donaldson, former chief medical officer for England and chief medical adviser to the UK government; James Fowler, social scientist, author and professor at the University of California, San Diego; Daniel Glickman, former U.S. secretary of agriculture; John Hutton, former minister in the UK Department of Health; Anita McBride, former assistant to President George W. Bush and chief of staff to First Lady Laura Bush; Leslie Norwalk, former acting administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Helen Ostrowski, former CEO of Porter Novelli and established leader in health care communication; Kavita Patel, former health policy advisor to the Obama administration; Kenneth Thorpe, former deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and Richard Wade, former senior executive at the American Hospital Association.
