LUDWIGSHAFEN, GERMANY--BASF has named Bärbel Arnold-Mauer as VP of corporate brand management, succeeding Susanne Marell who has left to head Edelman Germany.

14-year BASF veteran Arnold-Mauer becomes responsible for branding, industry group communications, plastics & industry affairs and sustainability relations. Previously VP of plastic affairs and comms, Arnold-Mauer will report to BASF SVP of comms and government relations Elisabeth Schick.

Marell, meanwhile, succeeds Cornelia Kunze as Edelman Germany CEO, following the latter's shift to become vice-chair of Edelman Asia-Pacific. Marell will be based in Frankfurt and reports to Edelman EMEA CEO Robert Phillips.

Marell began her career at Kohtes Klewes, before moving on to work at Schering, Hoechst/AgrEvo, Aventis CropScience and Cognis.

"Susanne’s specific expertise lies in corporate communications, including M&As, employee engagement, corporate branding and organizational change processes," said Phillips. "Susanne is also a widely acknowledged management expert in sustainability projects."

"I am sure that we will all benefit from Susanne’s leadership, which will inevitably help to build on our agency’s strategic objective of making Germany one of the key hubs in the Edelman global network."
