PALO ALTO, CA--Bill Wohl has departed HP, less than a year after joining the company as CCO.
Wohl relinquished CCO duties and moved to a 'special assignment' within the company in August, during the fallout from the tech giant's decision to spin off its key PC business, and buy software player Autonomy.
That series of events eventually led to the ouster of HP CEO Leo Apotheker, who had previously worked with Wohl at SAP. Wohl joined HP as a key Apotheker hire - charged with helping to change HP’s internal culture, and overall perceptions of the company.
Apotheker was replaced by former Ebay CEO Meg Whitman, who soon named HP comms veteran Lyn Anderson as interim CCO.
Wohl confirmed his departure via a tweet, stating that he would be "pursuing new opportunities" after taking some time off. An HP spokesman confirmed the development.
