LONDON—Clients of Burson-Marsteller (including the firm’s ASDA’A Burson-Marsteller operation and branded agencies in Africa) racked up an impressive 15 nominations for the EMEA region SABRE Awards, which will be presented at a gala ceremony in London on May 23.

Other firms reaching double digits in nominations included Ketchum, Weber Shandwick (including Prime in Sweden), and Ogilvy (including its Memac and Asset Ogilvy units), with 13 finalists apiece; Hill+Knowlton Strategies (including Gambit in Norway and Fabula in Lithuania) with 12; and Porter Novelli (including several Eastern European units) with 10.

There were multiple nominees for FleishmanHillard, Norway’s Geelmuyden Kiese, the UK’s Hope & Glory and MSL Group (eight each); APCO Worldwide, Edelman, Golin including its Virgo Health group, Spain’s Marco de Communicaction, and Text 100 (six); Germany’s achtung, Cohn & Wolfe, Four Communications of the UK and the UAE, Spain’s Llorente & Cuenca, and UK agencies Mischief, Unity, and W (five); and Norway’s Nucleus and Try, UK agencies Teneo Blue Rubicon and Tin Man, and Grayling (four each).

“We saw more entries in Europe than ever before, and more than we received in North America,” says Paul Holmes, who chaired the SABRE judging panels. “But more important we saw more quality than ever before. More research-driven insights, more big creative ideas, more integrated execution across channels, and more rigorous measurement. There’s no question that the PR industry in the EMEA region is doing its best work ever.”
