LONDON--Rupert Murdoch's re-entry into the Sunday tabloid market has drawn largely negative reponses online, according to new analysis from Meltwater Buzz.

The launch follows the demise of News Corp's News of the World title last year, amid exposure of its phone-hacking practices.

Meltwater Buzz provided insight into the underlying themes, sentiment and level of online buzz surrounding the launch of The Sun on Sunday, during the lead up to the launch.

Online sentiment toward The Sun on Sunday remained predominately negative, with a slight spike in positivity as a result of some tweeters expressing their excitement and anticipation for the launch of the tabloid. In the lead up to its rollout, opinions of social media users appear to be torn, with considerable disagreement over whether the newspaper - despite selling 3m copies - had met expectations.
