LONDON--Retailer Aldi has appointed Clarion Communications to handle UK consumer PR across its beer, wine and spirits (BWS) range.  

The brief was previously handled by Weber Shandwick, which will continue to handle UK consumer PR for Aldi across all of its other grocery categories.

The appointment will see Clarion highlight the quality and value for money offered by Aldi’s BWS range through endorsement, awards and creative news generation.

Tony Baines, MD of the Buying Department at Aldi Stores UK said: “Clarion demonstrated the right combination of drinks expertise and award-winning creative that we need to take our drinks coverage to the next level.”

Best-known for its low prices, Aldi has won 128 performance awards and accolades in 2011, including The Grocer Discounter of the Year and second place in the Which? Annual Supermarket Satisfaction Market Survey.

Weber Shandwick will continue to handle UK consumer PR for Aldi across all other grocery categories.
