WATERBURY — Webster Bank has named Alice Ferreira as senior vice president of corporate communications and public affairs. She is responsible for all external and internal communications, public relations and government affairs for the bank, while overseeing the bank's community affairs and philanthropy efforts. Ferreira reports to executive vice president and CMO Dawn Morris. She joins Webster from UnitedHealthcare, where she was vice president, corporate communications for its Medicaid division. There, she oversaw corporate media relations, internal communications, crisis management and thought leadership programs. Prior to that, she was director of corporate communications for HealthNet's $10b northeast division.
SACRAMENTO — The California State Teachers' Retirement System has appointed Diane Stanton as external affairs director. In her new role, Stanton will provide leadership, management and strategic direction for the CalSTRS external affairs program, with an emphasis on stakeholder relations, outreach management. She reports to public affairs executive officer, Grant Boyken. Most recently, Stanton served as the executive director of the California Health Facilities Finance Authority, which is under the direction of the State Treasurers Office. Prior to that, she led outreach and stakeholder relations efforts at the California Health Benefits Exchange.
LAS VEGAS — Health and welfare flight organization Miracle Flights has named Denyce Tuller as its new director of marketing and PR. The charity enables children with rare and life threatening medical conditions to gain access to specialized, out-of-state medical through commercial flights. Tuller is responsible for the over marketing and execution translating the company's business objectives into marketing strategies, overseeing the brand and continuing to build upon its brand awareness nationally. She was previously director of marketing and PR for Discovery Children's Museum and has over 25 years experience in the field.
WASHINGTON, DC — The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) has named Laura Wooster its new associate executive director for public affairs, heading ACEP's DC office. She replaces Gordon Wheeler who retired in June, 2017. Wooster has extensive federal legislative and regulatory experience, and most recently served as senior vice president of public policy for the American Osteopathic Association.
NEW YORK — Project development and construction group Skanska USA has announced two promotions and two hires within its communications department. Beth Miller and Jay Weisberger have both been promoted to vice president, communications while Mike Iacovella joins the company as senior director, communications, and Nick Derasmo joins as director, media and content. Miller has been with Skanska since 2010, when she joined to lead communications in the northeast region. Weisberger joined the company in 2008 and oversees communications for Skanska's western region, including offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington. Iacovella joins Skanska to be responsible for driving overall external and internal comms strategy and execution for many of its largest projects, including the development of LaGuardia Airport's Central Terminal B.
