WASHINGTON, DC—Edison Electric Institute, which represents US investor-owned electric companies, has promoted Brian Wolff from senior vice president to executive vice president of public policy and external affairs. Wolff directs the institute’s government relations, political and external affairs, and communications activities. He will continue as part of EEI’s senior leadership team.

NEW YORK—The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York, has appointed Emily Venugopal as director of public relations. Venugopal will oversee media relations for the 189-room Fifth Avenue property. Most recently, she was senior vice president with The Brandman Agency, New York, where she managed a team of 10 overseeing luxury hotel and travel clients. Previously, she worked at KWE Group in Miami and BGB Communications, First Public Relations and Charles Barker BSMG (Weber Shandwick) in London.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA—23andMe, a personal genetics company, has appointed Angela Wonson as vice president, communications. She will oversee the company’s corporate communications, media relations, investor relations and internal communications activities. Prior to joining 23andMe, Wonson served as vice president of communications and senior media advisor at Intuitive Surgical, a leader in robotic-assisted surgery and held senior positions at Weber Shandwick and Edelman.
