ARMONK, NEW YORK — IBM has named two new VPs to its communications team — Kevin McDermott and Erin Roche. McDermott will be the company’s next VP of strategic and executive communications, as which he will lead communications for the company’s chairman and focus on the company’s future positioning. He is currently working with Mike Wing, who is retiring from the position.  Roche has joined the company as VP of communications, systems, charged with leading communications, strategy and programs in support of IBM System. She comes most recently from Edelman, where she was head of enterprise tech for the Americas.

NEW YORK — Nasdaq has promoted Jeremy Skule from CMO to executive VP of marketing and communications. Skule, who joined Nasdaq in 2012, is credited with leading the company’s rebranding and redesign of its digital properties. He also introduced a global thought leadership platform. In his new role, Skule is responsible for Nasdaq’s global marketing, corporate communications, social media and social responsibility, as well as digital and design.

MILL VALLEY, CALIFORNIA — Samantha Zupan (pictured) has been elevated to Glassdoor’s VP of global corporate communications. Zupan helped launch Glassdoor in 2008 and was the company’s first employee dedicated to communications. In this role, Zupan will oversee the company’s communications function, including public relations, corporate communications, economics bureau, events, editorial, content and social media.

NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA — Preferred Hotels & Resorts has made two appointments to its communications team. Kristie Goshawk is now the company’s CMO. Caroline Michaud is executive VP of corporate communications and public relations. In addition, Michelle Woodley has been promoted to president. All three appointments come as the hospitality company focuses on driving growth and innovation to position it for future success, the company said.

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA — Headspace, the digital meditation and mindfulness company, has hired Steven Clark as the company’s VP of corporate communications and public relations. Clark joins from The Wonderful Company, where he has spent the last three years heading communications for brands including FIJI Water, Wonderful Pistachios and POM Wonderful. Before that, he was a VP of corporate communications at the Walt Disney Company, where he responsible for communications strategy, executive speech writing, internal communications, and the Walt Disney Archives
