Whaley joins Sealed Air from Siemens Corporation, North America, where he was senior vice president, corporate communications and marketing, and Chairman of the Siemens Foundation. Prior to Siemens, he was director, public affairs and communications at the US Military Academy at West Point.

NORTHBROOK, IL—Astellas US, a subsidiary of Astellas Pharma of Japan, has named Jeffrey Winton as senior vice president, chief communications officer. Winton will report to Masao Yoshida, CEO, and will have responsibility for corporate brand and reputation management in the Americas. Most recently, Winton was the vice president and head of global communications at Eli Lilly & Company. Prior to that , he held senior communications roles at Schering-Plough and Pharmacia.

STAMFORD, CT—Harman International Industries, a global audio and infotainment group, has named Paula Davis (pictured) as vice president of corporate affairs and communications, reporting to Harman chairman, president and CEO Dinesh Paliwal. She will have responsibility for global communications, corporate social responsibility, community relations and change management. Davis is currently president of Alcoa Foundation. Prior to that, she led corporate communications for Pepsi Bottling Group from 2007 to 2010 and held communications at Siemens Corporation, MVP.com, Sears Roebuck, and Sara Lee Corporation.

INDIANAPOLIS—WellPoint, one of the nation's leading health benefits companies, has named Julie Goon senior vice president of public affairs, responsible for leading WellPoint's state and federal government relations activities, issue management and policy development, regulatory affairs, and managing the company's relationships with industry, state and national associations. Most recently, Goon served as senior health policy director for the US House of Representatives energy and commerce committee. Previously, she served as director of General Electric's healthymagination marketing initiative.
