NEW YORK — Volvo Car USA has named Maria Zwaik senior specialist, media relations. Zwaik (pictured) joins Volvo from Jaguar Land Rover, where she spent five years in corporate communications. She also brings previous customer-facing experience with Tesla and Toyota, as well as formal training as an auto repair technician.

NEW YORK — Apollo Global Management has appointed Joanna Rose global head of corporate communications effective December 2, 2019. Rose will lead all communications activities as well as direct the firm’s global media relations efforts. She joins Apollo from Related Companies where she served as executive VP of corporate affairs.

NEW YORK — Morning Consult has named Olivia Petersen as managing director of communications. Based out of the New York office, she will be responsible for overseeing Morning Consult's communications and media relations strategy. Petersen brings with her 10 years of experience in public relations and communications management, most recently in executive communications positions at companies including Whole Foods.

INDIANAPOLIS — Knowledge Services has expanded their management team with the hiring of Leah McGrath as VP of public affairs, a newly formed position. McGrath, who currently serves as deputy mayor for the City of Fishers, will begin her role at Knowledge Services in early January 2020.  Past positions include director of government affairs for the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (now AIM) and VP at Sease Gerig, a public relations firm.

NEW YORK — NYC & Company, New York City’s official destination marketing organization, has promoted Shadawn Smith to VP, external affairs & community engagement, where she will lead government and community relations. Smith most recently held the position of director, external affairs & public engagement at NYC & Company, where she was instrumental in building and maintaining relationships with elected officials, agency heads, and community leaders for the organization.
