BRASILIA—Edelman Significa has appointed Renata Jara as public affairs director, and expanded its offering in Brasilia, where it will focus on providing government affairs as part of an integrated model in the Brazilian market.

Jara joins Edelman Significa with more than 15 years of experience in government affairs, having served as a legal advisor to the president of Telebras, Brazil’s state-owned telecommunications company, and as partner for Patri, where she headed the regulatory and judicial areas in addition to managing the firm’s Washington, DC, office from 2006 to 2009.

Edelman acquired Brazil’s Signigica in September of 2010, merging it with its existing operations in the market. The combined firm has 140 professionals across offices in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia.
