LAUSANNE—The International Olympic Committee has appointed Philip French as director of its public affairs and social development. French is joining the IOC from the England & Wales Cricket Board, where he was director of public policy and international relations. Before that, he was chief adviser on sport at the Department for Culture Media & Sport of the United Kingdom government and director of public policy at Premier League.

BRUSSELS—FTI Consulting has appointed Sir Philip Lowe as senior advisor in the public affairs practice. Following a period in the manufacturing industry in the UK, Lowe joined the European Commission in 1973, and held a range of senior positions as chef de cabinet and director in the fields of regional development, agriculture, transport and administration, before becoming director-general of development and later serving as director-general for competition and director-general for energy. He was most recently a non-executive board member of the UK's Competition & Markets Authority


LONDON—Zoopla, a leading property website, has appointed Brands2Life to handle its consumer PR. Brands2Life won a competitive pitch and will start working with the Zoopla team immediately reporting to PR manager Stefanie Midmer.


MILAN—Alessio Vinci has been named as senior vice president for corporate communications at Alitalia, reporting to president and interim chief executive officer Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, responsible for internal communication, national and international public relations, corporate social responsibility, and the management of corporate events. Vinci previously worked at Mediaset TV for more than four years and for 18 years at CNN, as head of the Rome office. Before joining Alitalia, he worked in corporate communications at Banca Sistema in Milan.

LONDON—StockWell Communications Group and Pendomer Communications, both acquired last year, have fully rebranded as Teneo Strategy. Both companies have been fully incorporated with Teneo's existing UK business and, alongside sister consultancy Blue Rubicon.

LONDON—John Morris joins Freshwater’s London team bringing experience in stakeholder engagement, political communications and public affairs. Prior to joining the Freshwater team, John was public affairs director at Birmingham International Airport, one of the country’s largest airports. His experience in transport also includes heading Virgin Trains’ public affairs and communications team. He was also the managing director of Virtue Solutions, which worked to launch Arriva Trains Wales, and has served as the managing editor of Railway World magazine. 

DUBLIN—Ryanair has appointed Matthias Wenk as marketing operations director, overseeing all advertising, brand communications and sales and marketing functions. A Swiss native, Wenk spent 10 years at Lidl Ireland, where he previously worked as associate marketing director and head of advertising.

LONDON—Beattie has appointed Jessica McAndrew as digital communications director. She will join Beattie from the BIG Partnership. She was previously with Frame Digital, Peach Digital and Groundzero.
