DUBLIN — Independent strategic communications consultancy Hanover has appointed Dr. Jennifer Carroll MacNeil advisor for its Dublin office. She will provide strategic insight and advice to the firm's portfolio of blue chip clients. MacNeil is a former Fine Gael legal advisor, and is a legal, political and academic consultant. MacNeil's clients include government departments, government officials and industry interest groups. She was also special advisor to two senior government ministries and is an advisor to the UCD Nova Institute Consult, a board member of the Collins Institute, and a member of the Committee to Monitor the Effectiveness of the Garda Youth Diversion Programme. 

LONDON — Four Communications Group has appointed Alex Knight as its first chief operating officer. He will sit on the agency's group and operating boards and will report to group chief executive Nan Williams. At Four, Knight will be responsible for the overall commercial and financial direction of the group. He will lead a number of strategic projects for the agency focussed on client and supplier relationships, M&A, governance and pricing. He joins Four from the Unlimited Group and has 15 years experience in the industry. 

OXFORD — Bottle has been chosen by UK energy supplier Haven Power to lead its external communications and raise awareness of the brand in the SME and I&C market. The remit includes helping Haven offer advice to businesses across the UK on various issues relating to sustainability, corporate social responsibility, business growth, and access to finance and business productivity. 

LONDON — The Hanover Health PR team has been named agency of record for three new clients — Cambridge Medical Robotics, OMRON and Consultant Connect. The firm has also made several senior hires including Alex Davies as associate director and Emma Gorton as senior account director. 

LONDON — Cohn & Wolfe has appointed Tamsin Tierney as deputy managing director of its UK healthcare business. Tierney will report to Catherine Keddie, healthcare managing director UK and will be responsible for continuing to drive the growth of the agency's healthcare business in London. She joins Cohn & Wolfe from Tonic Life Communications, where she held the role of managing director, Europe. 

PARIS — Citigate has named Robert Amady director. He was previously with Publicis Consultants and will be responsible for supporting listed and non-listed groups with their key strategic communication plans and strategy, and will also participate in the agency's business development. 

LONDON — Cicero Group has opened a consumer division to build on its corporate and public affairs foundation. Rowan Adams has been appointed a director to plan and launch the consumer division. Prior to this, Adams was head of communications for start-up bank Tandem. He also held senior roles at Thorpe Park, Chessington, the BBC and MTV. 

LONDON — Brand and PR agency Goldbug has made three senior hires. Aaron Sharp, a former news editor at the Sunday Mirror and Sunday People, takes on the role of account director. Katie Earlam, former senior staff journalist at The Sun, joins the agency as senior publicist. In addition, Neil Johnson has been named senior account director and has worked at Jackie Cooper PR.
