LONDON—Music licensing company PPL has appointed Fishburn Hedges to highlight the value of playing music in businesses and workplaces and to ensure businesses understand when they need to be licensed. The Fishburn Hedges team, led by Guy Corbet and supported by Victoria Sykes and Natasha Jones, will build on MusicWorks, a campaign started by PPL in 2009, with a media relations campaign.

LONDON—Lewis PR has appointed Zena Martin as senior vice president of EMEA, responsible for supporting strategic accounts in EMEA and across the global network. She will report to Andres Wittermann, executive vice president of Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. She has worked at director level across the UK, Europe and the US at PR agencies, including Hill & Knowlton and held senior positions at Firefly and Text 100.

AMSTERDAM – Picnic, one of Europe’s leading creativity and innovation platforms, has appointed PR company FinchFactor to manage a public relations strategy to support international growth. FinchFactor will be working directly with Picnic’s communications team headquartered in Amsterdam to promote two key events: The Picnic Innovation Mash Up and the annual Picnic festival.

LONDON—Beattie Communications has launched a boutique unit focused on male marketing. Only Men offers PR and marketing services to brands targeting the male audience. According to Gordon Beattie, chairman and founder of Beattie Communications, "We come from the standpoint that men are different from women. We think differently and we behave differently. It means that campaigns that appeal to women will not necessarily strike a chord with men.” He adds that "men have been disenfranchised by the marketing industry.”

LONDON—Octopus Group has appointed Alexia Sciplino to a newly created position of brand director. Sciplino will be responsible for developing Octopus Group's positioning, product innovations and further integrating the group's services, working closely with CEO Sandy Purewal. She will also be responsible for bringing new products to market on behalf of Octopus Group companies Octopus Communications, Rocket and Loudhouse. Prior to joining, Sciplino held senior positions at Publicasity and Weber Shandwick.
