WASHINGTON, DC--Estée Lauder SVP Maria Cristina 'MC' González Noguera is to become Michelle Obama's communications departing, replacing Kristina Schake.

Schake is moving to L'Oreal USA as communications director, after serving in the same role for the first lady since late 2010.

González Noguera departs her position as global VP of corporate communications at the Estée Lauder Companies, in which she advised the leadership team on government affairs, media relations, issues management, and employee engagement.

During her tenure at ELC, adds the East Wing announcement, González Noguera played a significant role leading and integrating Estée Lauder's corporate responsibility initiatives. Prior to joining the company, González Noguera was an MD for DC communications firm Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter & Associates.

In a statement, Michelle Obama said Schake "leaves big shoes to fill."

"Her expertise in strategic planning and her creativity have been invaluable not just to me but to the entire Administration and I am truly grateful for her leadership and counsel," said Obama. "My time at the White House has been focused on ensuring all our children and families thrive, and as an experienced communications professional who shares my commitment to this mission, I know MC will be an outstanding partner."
