NEW YORK—Gibbs & Soell has named design veteran Alan Hicks to the newly-created position of creative director. Hicks will be based in the firm’s Raleigh, NC, office, where he will oversee creative strategy, design and production assignments for the agency and its clients, while working closely with external partners.

Hicks will guide the development of multimedia client programs and assets that rely on strong visual and interactive elements to deliver a robust brand experience for target audiences. Creative content will include corporate presentations; brand identities; marketing material; custom online applications; sales collateral; advertisements; and packaging and displays, among a broad array of offerings.

Prior to joining Gibbs & Soell, Hicks was creative director of design agency Signal, where he led creative projects for the firm’s Raleigh office. Earlier he spent time at design firms Sally Johns Design, Art Farm and Paul Flum Ideas.
